This isn't really a [newbie] question or problem. This should really be referred to a cooker mailing list. You've installed a third party app from somewhere. I suppose you can go through the trouble finding all the dependencies from where you got the 2-12 gnome but I'm willing to bet that the new gnome is not worth all that headache. My advice is to either contact the cooker people or the maintainer of your third party application or to go back to gnome2-10. I actually had this same problem and I ended up going back to 2-10. Mark it up as a "live and learn" experience.
