Another question: since Harddrake doesn´t repond, would it be safe to
unistall it and reinstall? or will I end up in a worse fix?
Maryse

It's possible that this would help if you've trashed the install somehow
(e.g. gone in as root and deleted an essential library, or messed up a
config file), but it's unlikely. Remember, this is not Windoze. We don't
suffer from random corruption of installed software. It doesn't change
unless you change it.

Did harddrake work previously?

I think so. Used to work with Mdk 10.1 but I cannot be sure I tried it since installing M 2006. Everything seemed to work well so I cannot remember trying it or not.

I had to disable harddrake during boot because it was hanging trying to
probe the SATA interface, but I'm still on 10.1. I think they have this
fixed in 2006.

Have you tried, as root, to run "harddrake2" from the command line to see
if it reports any problems?

Yes, I get the frozen screen and eventually the ´ Window with title "Please wait" is not responding. This window belongs to application harddrake2 (PID=6944, hostname=localhost).´
message.

Thanks
Maryse

you may get this message if the window had been "busy" and you clicked the 'x' to close the window. how long did you wait for the window befor you tried to close it? (how powerful, cpu wise) is your box? did you try and move the window first, maybe it has a window behind it waiting for a response?
what kernel are you running?
I know I have a ?random? total freeze in urpmi in cups, 2006, 2.6.12-17mdksmp
