    Hi,

I installed 2006 and I found that the NTFS volume I have was mounted
    automatically.

    How safe is that?

    Thanx,

Since NTFS file systems are designed mainly for network computers,
it should be very safe. Dont worry about hackers or viruses/spyware
with mandriva as it isnt compatible with the virus code :P

Does that mean it would be safe for both reading *and* writing? A while
back it was considered unsafe to write to NTFS.

Writing is still considered experimental (i.e. try it at your own risk) with the regular NTFS support. It's only considered safe that I know of with Captive NTFS. I'm not sure which one 2006 is using by default.

How can I find out if it using Captive NTFS or not?
