I will try these in the near future. This has always been the way I
wanted to do it, but had only resorted to XAMPP to avoid configuration
headaches, at least for now - I've only just transitioned from doing web
development in Windows XP. For now, I'll stick to XAMPP till I get the
pressing deadlines out of the way. I reverted to the version of XAMPP
that uses MySQL 4, and everything's now working as it should. (Somebody
else told me Joomla seems to still not be compatible with MySQL 5. I'm
not sure if that is true, but my own (rather limited) experience seems
to validate that too.)
