Well I'll be... when I looked at the updated man page earlier this
morning I totally glossed over the change.  That's really weird.
Thanks though, that was the problem.

I ran into this also. In the man-page I found that now the -s "xxx"
has
to come before the e-mail addres(ses):

SYNOPSIS
       nail [-BDdFintv~] [-s subject] [-a attachment ] [-c cc-addr]
[-b
bcc-
              addr] [-r from-addr] [-h hops] [-A account] to-addr . .
.
       nail [-BDdeHiInNRv~] [-T name] [-A account] -f [name]
       nail [-BDdeinNRv~] [-A account] [-u user]

(I know it says 'nail' in the man page. Still works as mail too
though.)
