Thanks for the replies. I wrote down the possibilities
for later, but before you all kicked off the thread with
answers I had already urpme'ed Amarok in frustration and
went back to xmms.
I figured that Mdrv would maybe sort it out by then.
Don't know if it's relevant, but using the arts-engine caused Amarok to
fall over after a few seconds every time I started it. I've now
switched to the Xine-engine and now everything works fine.
