Hi Paul,

i installed another s3 trio64 card and it works. Hardrake recognize it automatically. So i think it's actually the problem of the first s3 card.

You may be in bad luck. When I first started playing with Linux, my PC
had an S3 Trio card in it also, and yes, that went well in Windows.
Linux however had terrible, horrible, non-existent support for that
card. With a lot of work I got black and white graphics, 640x480 running
on it.

I doubt that support for this old card has improved. My solution was to
get another videocard.
