Hi all,
I have a server running Mandriva 2006.0 Free which acts as gateway to
the www & internal fileserver to my LAN. It has had an ethernet network
on it for a long time, and I have had no problems with sharing files
across the LAN or access to the internet using Samba/ Shorewall/
interactive firewall through the Mandriva Control Center.
I have added a wireless access point which issues IP addresses & allows
access to data on the server OK, but which cannot give access to the
internet, nor to devices attached to PCs on the ethernet LAN. I can
change the internal end with which the internet connection is shared,
and give internet access to either the wired or the wireless LANs, but
not to both at the same time.
I think I need a bridge between two LANs, with which I can share the
internet connection and devices between the LANs, but I don't see the
options in the normally comprehensive Mandriva info.
Do I need to upgrade the level of Mandrake to 'Power' or 'Superflyguy'
or whatever, or is there a simple way to download bridging facilities,
so that even someone who's not looked at a system since IBM i5s were
called System38s can understand?
Alternatively, am I barking up entirely the wrong tree?
thanks
MF
At the moment the structure of the network is:
WWW (via NTL cable)

| Realtek 8139 NIC
| eth0

| |
PCs trial Laptop
(IP 192.168.1.253 etc) (IP 192.168.2.100 etc)
but I'm not sure this is relevant if what's missing is a bridge...
