James, try looking at the "configure your desktop>taskbar " and make sure that
the "show only minimized windows" box is not checked and the "show windows
from all desktops" is checked. I also have "show application icons" box
checked but I don't think this part of the problem.
The missing windows happened to me when I installed KDE 3.5 from KIOSK.
