Try hitting F1 instead of enter and typing one of the following:

linux noapic
linux noapic nolapic
linux acpi=off
linux acpi=off noapic

Try all 4 of these suggestions to see if you get a different result. If you
don't, it is possible that your current sata controller is so new that
mandriva has not packaged the right drivers with the current distribution CD.
In that case, you will need to obtain drivers from Nvidia for your controller
and then either place them within the CD ISO image so that they can be loaded
from there or put them on a floppy disk or some other device so they can be
loaded from there.

Another option would be to install an IDE hard drive and install the boot
image to that drive so that the kernel drivers for your IDE drive can be
placed there, that will allow you to load them prior to trying to initiate
the partitions on the sata hard drive.

For the record, I am also using an Nvidia chipset motherboard with Sata
controllers and the noapic option works perfectly on mine.
