Thanks Rick...I did not know about that.

I added a 2nd update source and tried again to download the xorg
updates, it was so successful that I've just completed reinstall #3 for
the last week. It's just as well I use the switch --noclean when i
download as I would not be a happy camper having to do 180 mb of
updates that number of times.

Have a note on my monitor to remind me not to attempt the latest xorg
until at least my mentor gets home later this week from his busmans
holiday in the south of France.
