Hello, last saturday I wanted to download an IOS image of Knoppix. As I realised that the download time would take about 8 hours I decided to use wget. With the option -c it is possible to interrupt your download an continue another time.
Okay, that's what I did: cd into my download directory and from there: wget -c http://mirror.switch.ch/ftp/mirror/knoppix/KNOPPIX_V4.0.2CD-2005-09-23-DE.iso Okay, I downloaded about 13% and then I interrupted it with ctrl-c because I had to reboot my PC to work on my Amiga Emulator (which runs under another OS). Okay, then in the evening I decided that I don't need my PC anymore, so I booted again into Mandrake and restarted wget: wget -c http://mirror.switch.ch/ftp/mirror/knoppix/KNOPPIX_V4.0.2CD-2005-09-23-DE.iso As it should the download continued after the 13% and I also saw my growing image in my download directory. Several hours passed and I wanted to go to bed. I checked the download status and I saw that it should be finished after one hour. I didn't want my PC to run the whole night, so in a root terminal I entered shutdown -h +120 So after 2 hours, one hour after finishing the download it should shutdown and rest for the night. Okay, the next day I woke up, restarted my PC (shutdown worked as expected) and I wantend to check my IOS image in my download directory. And????? There was no ISO image anymore, not even the unfinished part of it I saw before I went to bed. It's the second time an ISO image downloaded with wget disappeared, the first time I didn't think to much about it. But now, I want to know what happened. Please help, any hints? Is it Mandrake hating Knoppix or what? -- NEU: GMX DSL Sofort-Start-Set - blitzschnell ins Internet!
