might help to know more about what you mean by "won't boot"
does it go through the post? (power on self test) can you get into the bios?

you may only have to go into bios and save for the new memory to be recognized.

is it a blank screen all the way? no drive spinning at all?
did you have to screw with the hard drive cable to get to the memory?
