Hi all,
Following a suggestion regarding a 2007 freeze while using Gnome, I am
currently using KDE, but
can't see how to have more than one desktop. The multiple desktop panel
applet ignores requests to add more desktops (I'm using the 3D desktop
and I guess compiz is preventing it) and I can't see how to access the
cube to rotate to different desktops.
Has anyone got multiple desktops working in KDE with the 3D graphics on?
Or got access to the cube? How?
Do take a look at your KDE install when you get the chance, on my fresh
2007 install, the MDV installer did not install the kde-core stuff and
after loading Gnome to test it I couldn't get back to KDE until I added
these packages. In fact KDE was not even on the sessions menu of gdm or
kdm until I corrected this.
Now about the 3d desktops...
I had 4 when I was done (from before I activated 3d), but only one
showed in the pager.
To get to the others hold ctrl-alt down and then:
By using the cursor keys, up arrow moved the desktop back away from you
so that you can linearly slide across to one you want. Or, left and
right arrow rotate the cube to other desktops if you don't use the up
arrow first.
Dragging a window over the side flips to the next desktop too.
There is a shortcuts listing in the Compiz config screen listing these
and other shortcuts.
