Hi, That little circle is for MandrivaOnline... an auto update daemon. Basically, you upload your settings, and it will notify you with any updates. You will get it activated free, if you buy a box set, and if you you use the free edition, the you have to pay a subscription fee. My advice, is dont bother to pay the subscription. The technical support is useless, mine hasnt worked at all under 2007, and all I have had, is a few flatulent emails from support, who still have not identified & fixed the problem, which looks to be at their server end! As far as RPMdrake not loading, open up a terminal, as root, type in gurpmi, and that should open RPMdrake.... and see if there are any error messages in the terminal as it opens.
