Hello all,

I've just stuck a saa7134 based TVcard in my desktop box.
After taking in a few hours to find the needed module ...... I eventually found
it in the multimedia-kernel.
Lo, it found my channels again. :-)

Nice extra is that my choppy video problem disappeared using the mm-kernel, so
that's good. Considering I was just a hop away from kicking Mandy off my
desktop in favour of Ubuntu, just for that reason.

Downer is I can't get sound from the card. Sound apps work fine using the
built-in soundcard whereas the TV card has to use itself as soundcard.

>From what I've derived from googling around is that v4l2 creates (and needs)
>it's own sound device but I can't seem to find it.

I think I need to get it (the saa7164 card) added as a sound device i.e. need
it to get loaded ....... but I don't know which module to look for or where to
put it.

Anybody got a similar card with sound working?
If so, how is it shown in "lsmod"?

That way I can add it to /etc/modprobe.preload as I had to do with the saa7134
module.

I tried adding:
"option saa7134 oss=1" to there but that didn't do much good except mute "kmix".
Would "alsa=1" be an option?

Good luck,
HarM.
