The light on the dvd drive should be flashing an error code.
You will need to check the drive manufacturer site to find out what
codes they use.
Maybe it is something simple.
It would be my guess though that the laser is bad or out of line and
can no longer see/read dvd media.
This is not a fixable problem.
Have the same with a plextor drive and have now ordered a new drive.
