I just configured bind and there is some odd issue with access. I am
setting up an authoritative name server and I used the included mandriva
configs as a base. I configured the zones properly, etc and I commented
out listen-on and allow-query (which should default to listen-on all
interface @ port 53 and allow-query any) and I can still only query the
DNS server on localhost (even from the local machine I can not access
named without addressing it through the loopback). I know the firewall
is not the issue since I turned it off and still nada. I also explicitly
setup allow-query and nothing. I also have trusted networks including
the IP block I am on.
Is there something with the supplied default config I am missing? Either
non-std build options or some config I missed?
Outside of the "what port does DNS run on" inquiries, this
(http://www.hosthideout.com/archive/index.php/t-8500.html) is all I
found in my searches and it is a really similar issue with no stated
resolution.
Thanks,
Tom
