Hi,
I'm new to FreeBSD, in general, I'm new to
linux/unix world, though I'll consider myself as a veteran of
Windows.
Anyway, I have a problem making X work.
Please tell me if I made something wrong.
My machine is an old IBM PC-100 486DX100 with
built-in Cirrus Logix 5430 1MB video.
I have these several questions:
1. When I execute XF86Setup, I can see graphics,
make my mouse and keyboard work, choose the CL543x chipset, uses a paper white
14" monitor. But when I execute startx, it
doesn't get me into a graphical mode and instead gives me an error which I can't
read coz its way above the screen and scrolls off.
2. During installation, I installed KDE but how do
I load this during startup?
3. How can I get back to the installation screen
where I choose options for installation?
Well, added to the above, what I would like my box
to do is make it a web server, an internet gateway to my LAN, an email server,
an FTP server, File server, Print server (HP1100), etc.
Hope anybody out there can help me
out.
