Hi,

I really am a newbie, so please go easy on me. I
have a laptop PIII 933 with a Trident CyberBlade
i1 AGP it has a 8520 chipset. I have installed Red
Had 7.

During install the graphics card was not
recognised and I continued with the text install.
Running Xconfigurator. When asked to select my
graphics card the closest I could find was the
Trident 8900/9000 Cyberblade Generic.For the
monitor I selected a
generic LCD panel 800x600. After probing,
XConfigurator announced that it had found suitable
settings.

the command "startx" produces a grey rectangle
with an "x" in the middle. Its smaller than it
should be, about one third of the screen size. My
touchpad (mouse) works, then slowly, very slowly,
the Gnome window manager starts. It takes about 10
minutes to produce the monochrome introduction
page. Other popups start, and the mouse pointer
moves around ok but I am unable to "click" on
anything. Finally it hangs. Ctrl+Alt+Backspace
does nothing. Ctrl+Alt+F2 gives me a black screen.
This is where the only thing that'll work is the
"off" switch.

SuperProbe says that I have a Super-VGA Trident
chipset (unknown) PCI probed. Signature data 8520
1023.

PCI? Should this not be AGP? Would this make it
slow? Does anyone know if there is a driver for
this card or some way I can get it to work with my
PC. I am really out of my depth and any advice
would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tony Cunningham
