This is a known virus - The Sircam virus.
And you are right it will not effect anyone on linux.

I scanned it...
I would not be surprised that the intent is to get the
Excel file it links to to execute. The sender id was
garbled, I am taking no chance to investigate whether
it would actually function or not...
