Short version :
What need to added in the Keyboard section of my XF86Config to
be able to keep the xterm "alt-" capabilities (alt-b / alt-d /
alt-delete ...) and at the same time be able to use the special keys
on my keyboard (which keycodes are after 134) ?
Detailled version :
Using XFree 4.1.0, I have set up my XF86Config to use "pc101"
(mostly because pc104 makes me loose the xterm alt- capabilites [1]),
but I would like to use my Logitech Cordless's special keys (13 in
total, recognized by xev for values after 134). My problem is that
when I try to do a "xmodmap -pk" the number of entries available stop
at 134.
From checking into /etc/X11/xkb/keycodes/xfree86, I would have
thought that the max number was 255 (minimum= 8; maximum= 255;), but
it seems to be limited at 134.
I have been trying to have more entries for the keycodes, but
that forces me to loose the "alt-" capability in my xterm (and I do
_not_ wish to loose them).
I have tried to use the "hotkeys" software but unluckily as
everytime I try to use it, it does segfault on a xml comment reading
(out of a "ddd" run).
Any solution to be able to use more than the 134 upper limit
for keycodes without giving away pc101 ?
[1] Even with the following entries in my .Xdefaults:
XTerm*eightBitInput: false
XTerm*eightBitOutput: true
XTerm*metaSendsEscape: true
Hope somebody know the answer to this one ;)
PS : Please e-mail me a copy of any answer as I am not on the ML
