Well, unless you uprgaded with RPM, RPM will still show 4.0.3 as being the
installed version. Disregard this, RPM is wrong.

To get GNOME back, look in the file called .xinitrc (might also be .xsession
or .Xclients) in your home dir. To run GNOME, it should contain only the
line 'exec gnome-session'. That would be 'exec startkde' if you'd rather
give KDE a whirl.

Hi,

I have just installed Xfree 4.1.X using precompiled
binaries with the defaults.

Two things happen here. When i go in and do a rpm -qa
| grep XFree, i still see the older version which is
4.0.3 in there and I am unable to get up Gnome instead
 the GUI which comes up is twm.
