Commenting out useFBDev is correct. After this, it sounds like a mouse protocol issue. Do you have a wheel mouse? If so, the correct protocol is generally IMPS/2. Else, it's usually PS/2 (if the mouse is PS/2 or USB. If it's serial, things get ugly. I don't remember the right protocols because I haven't used anything except a PS/2 or USB mouse in an aeon.)
