Has anyone gotten X 4.1.0 (From Redhat 7.2) to work with a Gateway Solo 9550?
I have Nvidia's GeForce2 GO driver installed and correctly working. I know
this because X will work fine when outputing to an external monitor. When
using the laptop display however I get a really cool looking white plasma
look on the screen which eventually fades to an even gray. The machine is
still running just fine (I can ssh into it and kill X) but I never get the
display back, it just sits there nice and gray. I also tried disabling AGP
with the "NvAgp" "0" option but to no avail.
I suspect that the problem is with the hsync and vsync settings, which I
can't find anywhere and Gateway won't tell me (they don't support linux
*cheeky bastards*) I have used the generic laptop display setting and the
NVidia driver entires in XFree86.0. log says that it expects vsync of 60 and
hsync of 30-100, I have used these and just about anything in between.
So has anyone gotten this to work and if so can I have a looksee at thier
XF86Config-4 file.

This is a very good reason why corporate high ups shouldn't be allowed to get
the latest and greatest and then expect the IT people to make it magically
work with everything they "have to have"
