Hi,
One would need more details:
RH 7.x creates *two* config files one for 3.3.6 (/etc/X11/XF86Config) and one for 4.x.x
(/etc/X11/XF86Config-4) In addition vicious installation programs sometimes put one 
more in /root
just for the fun of it...
1. There should not be one in /root remove it if there is one
2. check which version of X you use just type
X -version
3. according to the version make the appropriate changes in the corresponding 
XF86Config[-4]

IF you don't know which changes to do AND IF you are using 4.x.x THEN 
1. run XFree86 -configure  it will create /root/XF86Config.new
2. move and rename that file to /etc/X11/XF86Config-4

IN CASE of further problem post your XF86Config[-4] and the log
