Hi, One would need more details: RH 7.x creates *two* config files one for 3.3.6 (/etc/X11/XF86Config) and one for 4.x.x (/etc/X11/XF86Config-4) In addition vicious installation programs sometimes put one more in /root just for the fun of it... 1. There should not be one in /root remove it if there is one 2. check which version of X you use just type X -version 3. according to the version make the appropriate changes in the corresponding XF86Config[-4]
IF you don't know which changes to do AND IF you are using 4.x.x THEN 1. run XFree86 -configure it will create /root/XF86Config.new 2. move and rename that file to /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 IN CASE of further problem post your XF86Config[-4] and the log Lionel --- Mr K <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Howzit > > please could someone help on resolution changes in xfree on red > hat linux, gnome/kde, i have tried playing around with the > xfree86config and go through the whole thing and set my default > res, and then save it, and no changes are made when i restart, am > i using the right program ,where must i save the config file to, do i > have to do something else to the config file first?? > > sick of 640x480...wel, i think its that > > thanks > cheers > _______________________________________________ > Newbie mailing list > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > *** To unsubscribe , or change message options, see: > http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/newbie __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
