The logfile's not writeable for normal users... Make it either 664, if you
want all X users in a given group, or 666 otherwise. Make sure that /var/log
is 1777...

Subject: [Newbie]Was: Intellimouse Config. Is now $#!@* ;)

Hi again,
I re-ran XF86Config, and used the PS/2 mouse option instead of the
IntelliMouse option, and everything seems to work fine. startx will
load up the xterm-ish WM and the mouse tracks and responds properly.

If I su to my normal user account, and startx, I get:

Fatal server error:
Cannot open log file "/var/log/XFree86.0.log"

When reporting a problem related to a server crash, please send
the full server output, not just the last messages.
This can be found in the log file "/var/log/XFree86.0.log".

giving up.
xinit: No such file or directory (errno 2): unable to connect to X
server
xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error.

I checked the permissions on that logfile and have:
-rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 23362 Oct 26 12:19 /var/log/XFree86.0.log

Now, here's the tricky part:
I set up root's .xinitrc with startkde.
and it loads and runs KDE2 just like it should. Everything works.

I realize this may be a problem with KDE more than anything else, but,
Any ideas?

Thanks
