Hey there,

I am trying to get XFree86 / XDarwin up and running on my ibook (OS 10.1)

so far, i've tried installing XFree86 both from binaries using the installer script, and from compiling the sourcecode directly. then i download and install XDarwin1.0a3. no matter what i do, i get the following error message in the console and XDarwin will not run.

This is a pre-release version of XFree86, and is not supported in any
way. Bugs may be reported to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and patches submitted
to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Before reporting bugs in pre-release versions,
please check the latest version in the XFree86 CVS repository

I don't understand the first two errors.
1. i don't seem to have a file named /tmp/.X11-unix, nor do i know how to change the owner
2. how do i get access to tty

as for the missing font path elements, i had even more missing when i compiled the source code (this error message appeared when i installed from binaries). but I can fix this problem by copying the Speedo and Type1 directories from a colleague that performed these downloads a few weeks ago

thanks for the help!
