Corruption prob, eh? What version of X and Linux (ie kernel version, not distro version)? Odds are, XFree86 4.1.0 will fix the problem. If not, XFree86-current almost certainly will (AFAICT, supports ALL ATi cards to some degree, all but Mach64 (Rage/Rage Pro) and Radeon 8500 have DRI support)
