I tried to run Xfree86 4.1.0 on a Toshiba Satellite 1800-S253 under OpenBSD 2.9, and I couldn't get X to work with the CyberBlade AXi (or whatever chip it is), either defined as itself, or as any of a few generic chips. I then tried Red Hat 7.1 (with Xfree86 4.0.3) on this laptop, and it works fine -- but I had to set it up as if I had a "Trident CyberBlade generic" when configuring X. I dunno if this is a problem with the newer drivers or something else, but I would love to get it figured out before I try OpenBSD again. Anyway, it's a data point for you to consider.
