Well, now that I've finally got
X to work on my Dell Latitude running FreeBSD 4.4-RELEASE with ATI Mobility M4
(32 MB RAM) video card, there remains the problem of being able to change the
screen resolution. Right now, I have the Modes set to 1400x1050 (including
the ModeLine, the key part of the config file). But when I start X, it
still shows up in the largest available resolution: 1600x1200. I've even
tried paging through the resolutions in KDE through Ctrl+Alt+- or something like
that. Anyone know how to fix it? Also, I know there's probably a
simple way to do this, but how do you let a non-root user startx?
Whenever I try to startx as a normal user, I get an error saying that it could
not open the log file. When I tried changing the permissions on it,
I got another error saying I must be suid. Can anyone help?
Thanks
Anant
