DEar Xwindow folks, I can run xwindows OK as root but I can't get it to run as a user....
I have an error that goes; Warning: Unable to lock ICEauthority file: /home/mikef/.ICEauthority I got an email from Evan Pierce saying that my home directory must no longer exist and this was causing the problem. I had to change the ownership of the directory to fix the problem. The /etc/passwd file entry needed to tie up with the home directory etc.... I don't think thats the problem. Someone else told me to do various chmod things e.g. chmod 750 /home/mikef etc. I tried these things but it didn't work.... What can I do to fool xwindows into working in my user account ??? I can supply any output file names file ownership file contents.. any output anyone would like to see on request that they think might help nail this. Just let me know and I'll get it. All the best, Michael Fothergill _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com/intl.asp _______________________________________________ Newbie mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] *** To unsubscribe , or change message options, see: http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/newbie
