I have a dual-headed non-xinerama system with RH 7.0, XFree86 4.1 with a
fair number of installed applications. The system is an IBM Intellistation
E-Pro (a small desktop type), 500 MHz PIII, 384 MB RAM, two IDE disks (13
GB, 20 GB). I have a nVidia Quadro (Elsa Gloria II, 32 MB) on the AGP slot
and a Trident Cyber in a PCI slot. The latter is running at 8-bit only
because I need to support an ancient application that sadly requires
pseudo-color as the default visual. I am also using FVMW2. The system
seems to work pretty well.

Here's my XConfig-4, in case it helps.

Subject: [Newbie]Dual-headed problems

I'm running a minimal install of redhat 7.1 (just what I needed to boot
and navigate, etc, I've been trying to compile install the rest as a
learning experience). I installed Xfree 4.1.0 and then used XFree86
-configure to generate an XF86Config file. It correctly found both my
cards (Ati Rage Fury Pro (AGP) and Ati Xpert 98 (PCI)) and I was able to
get them running at 1280x1024 24bpp, so I was happy. After playing and
working with it for a while my screen froze, clock stopped, keyboard
stopped responding (no ctrl+alt+backspace), but the mouse was still able
to move (combined to one monitor). I had to telnet in from another
machine to restart, but it eventually just happened again. Now my
computer is in sad shape (which I want to blame on the abit motherboard
because it is the third one that I have because the first two failed and
were not-so-happily replaced by the company) so I'm trying to diagnose the
problem exactly, and my question is just if this is a somewhat normal
problem with running two-headed systems, or if it really isn't and it's
definately my hardware.

Some notes on my hardware:
Disk IO takes a long time, possible broken IDE controller on mobo.
IO performed badly in windows and linux
Hard drive is only 1.5 years old.
256 MB RAM
800MHz Processor (athlon slot-a)
mobo is abit KA7-100
Rage Fury Pro has 32 MB video ram
Xpert has 8 MB

Software notes:
XFree 4.1.0
Windowmaker (Latest)
Xinerama NOT installed or used
2.4.12 Kernel
Gnome and KDE NOT installed

I attached a copy of my XF86Config.

Thanks for any help.
