Basically, nothing works 'out of the box' with TV-out. The closest you'll
get is Matrox or nVidia, and you'll need the binary drivers for those...
TV-out is sticky because of Macrovision/content management cruft, which is
mostly under NDA...

Subject: [Newbie]Looking for supported TV-Out card.

Hi there,

as I havn't been successful with my ATI Radeon TV-Out card *sigh* I
decided to bring this one back to my reseller and buy another one.

But before I go there and just buy "something" I'd appreciate some
suggestions regarding the card.
My question:
        - Which cards are supported out-of-the-box with TV out. I
mean: which card can I plug in, run XFree86 -config and then startx and it
works? With TV out of course. I don't even want to attach a VGA Monitor, I
only need the TV out.

If there is no such card supported, is there something like a VGA --> SVHS
out converter?

Many thanks in advance,
        Freddy
