Try Open GL setup again. I own a Satellite 1715 XCDS and
run with an ATI Rage Mobility Mach 64 Enhanced. I ran
GLSetup from broadband and switched my display adapter
to the ATI RADEON 8500. The only thing is, you need to
make hardware profiles for normal windows programs, 3d
games and heavy 3d texture programs. Free up at least
120 megs of onboard memory and then start your hardware
profiler.
Another useful tool is called Application Warp which can
be downloaded from CNET. It allocates memory on the fly.
Automatic settings provide the best runtime for the
program you wish to run or write to.
