Is Xconfigurator a Linux thingie? It's certainly not part of any of my XFree86 installations. And, although I did not say it explicitly, I intended it to be clear in the above that he (and I) had already used each of the XFree86 configuration tools that are supplied (XF86Setup, xf86config and xf86cfg).
