Yow! Did you see this? I think you have more than one problem here, and I suggest you work through them methodically, one by one, starting with this one. Are you trying to use /tmp in your root filesystem? Bad idea. Filling your root filesystem can be quite inconvenient. Most modern Unices will let you use a virtual memory filesystem for /tmp. I urge you to use that.
