I would take the lazy way out: use another userid and use a different config file with only the 1024x768 resolution, accepting the fact that the LCD screen might not be filled... Using a different XF86Config could be achieved either by specifying it on the startx command file or by putting it in the home directory (check with man XFree86 the priority sequence of the config files) Lionel --- Allen Stoughton <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I'm running Redhat 7.2 (and so XFree86 4.1.0) on a Dell Inspiron 4100 > with an SXGA+ display and the ATI Radeon Mobility; in the XFree86 log, > it's listed as: > > (--) PCI:*(1:0:0) ATI Radeon Mobility M6 LW rev 0, Mem @ > 0xe0000000/27, 0xfcff0000/16, I/O @ 0xc000/8 > > (--) Chipset ATI Radeon Mobility LY (AGP) found > > When I run the machine without an external monitor, things work fine, > both with and without X.
