Thanks for the reply. I have my XF86Config-4 file set this way. I've included that file and the XFree86.0.log file generated when I startup for your dining and dancing pleasure...
The interesting thing about the log file is the two lines that come after the list of VESA modes. They look like this: (--) VESA(0): Virtual size is 640x480 (pitch 640) (**) VESA(0): Default mode "(null)" This second line leads me to believe there is some way to tell the VESA driver what resolution I want but how to do this eludes me... Thanks in advance for help, FM Frank W. Miller P.S. Sorry about the use of attachments, I can resend the stuff directly inline if anybody needs it... > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] On Behalf > Of Lionel Lecoq > Sent: Sunday, January 13, 2002 1:04 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: Re: [Newbie]i830 support for Dell C400 (vesa) > > try: > DefaultDepth 16 > Subsection "Display" > Depth 16 > Modes "1024x768" > EndSubSection > or whichever resolution your display should like > in your screen section > Lionel > > --- Frank W Miller <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > > > > > Hi again, > > > > I managed to get the VESA driver to startup on the C400.
