Well, I'm very satisfied with my TNT2 card. (Diamond Viper V770). There is a good driver support from nVidia for Linux with OpenGL 3D acceleration although XFree comes with an own (unaccelerated) driver. Probably you should use a newer nVidia card like a MX2 card.
