OK, I tried everything you said: double-clicking Darwin-X does nothing. The icon bounces a bit, then it acts as though it's on but then just quits after about 3 seconds. I tried typing startx-- -quartz, startx -quartz, startx quartz, startx- --quartz.. the terminal says it's an unknown command. There is no .xinitrc file in my home directory. What do I do now? I'll go check out fink. If anyone has any idea what to do, let me know.
