My guess is that your video board is a brand new chipset and 4.1.0 doesn't know about "device 0x5446". Maybe 4.2.0 knows more about it. I'm about to embark on that upgrade myself, I'll post my experiences probably tonight or tomorrow morning. Of course, since I don't have a "vendor 0x1002 device 0x5446" my results won't be perfectly relevant to you. I just thought of something. I'll bet that if XFree86 4.2.0 knows about that device ID, then the 4.2.0 version of scanpci also knows about it. You might want to find out before you download 62.5 Megabytes.
