I have installed Debian Woody on a 486 100 mhz
when it boots it attempts to load X automatically and then kicks out ot
the following screen
I cannot start the X server. it is likely that it is not set up
correctly.
would you like to view the X server output to diagnose the problem?
I respond yes and get the following screen

Xfree86 Version 3.3.6a / X Window System
(protocol Version 11, revision 0, vendor release 6300)
Release date: xx November 2000
If the server is older than 6-12 months, or if your card is newreer
thatn the above date, look for a newr version before reporting problems.

Operating system: Linux 2.4.13 i686 [ELF]

dbe: Unknown error loading module

Config Error: /etc/X11/XF86Config:48

Can someone tell me where to start looking?
Is this a monitor or video card problem?
