Hello friends,
I have an i810 chipset with 256MB and
running Red Hat Linux 7.1. The Kernel is
2.4.17 and XFree86 is 4.0.3.
There apparently is no problem and the
display comes up quite nicely. But on looking into the
/var/log/XFree86.0.log file ( snip pasted below) it looks as though
something is wrong with the AGP setting or I believe the AGP capability
of my Motherboard is not being used. I want to know how it can be
resolved. I have set the "Videoram" to 16384K in my
/etc/X11/XF86Config-4 file.
I have disabled DRI in the kernel because
if enabled there is a DMA problem of some sort. Also 2.4.17 doc says
that XFree86 should be 4.1.0 if DRI is to be effectively used.
So what do I do so that the AGP capability
is used(its only 2x and onboard too but never mind). Should DRI be
enabled for AGP to be used ? All at sea.

Thanks again,
G.Sriram.
