Is it
crashing on you, or just not getting the proper resolution? Posting
details about your X installation (e.g. version, XF86config) would
help.

Good luck
Setting up ATI
Rage LT Pro card under XFree86
I just recently got a brand
new monitor (nice 19 in. too). Now I should be able to finally get a decent
resolution (i.e. 1600 x 1200). However, I haven't been able to.
I
installed FreeBSD the other day to try it out. The XFree86 setup had my
card, an old ATI Rage LT Pro, which allowed me to go up to 1600 x 1200 res.
I uninstalled FreeBSD today to go back to Linux.
Before I never had
to bother reconfiguring my video card, as my monitor sucked so bad I
wouldn't be able to tell a difference. I first ran 'xf86config' but only one
ATI card showed up. So I decided to update. I managed to update Xfreee86 all
by myself the first try. I reran xf86config and to my dismay the ATI Rage LT
Pro wasn't listen. I tried using some other drivers in some vein attempt to
be able to run at 1600 x 1200 res, but to no avail.
Anyone have any
suggestions as to what to do? I would love to actually be able to multitask
without watching everything come tumbling down due to a shoddy OS (aka
Windows ;).
Your help is very much appreciated. Thanks.
