I got the 4.2.0 binary release for NetBSD-1.5 working on my Presario. I used the xf86config program to do the configuration. The video card I used was the Trident CyberBlade (generic).
The other 'trick' was to select the 'wsmouse' protocol, and use the '/dev/wsmouse' device to get the pointer device correct. Otherwise the server would crash when the touch pad was touched... I then used the NetBSD pkgsrc to get the gnome package installed, and am using the sawfish window manager. (There are some problems with the pkgsrc and gnome... the make file printed up one line of checking dependencies, then stopped. Upon logging in via telnet I found that the make file had executed a number of parallel makes, and so the system was rather busy. The gnome build took a very long time, and evetually used up all the available space, so I would recommend having about 2 GB available for those thinking about this... _______________________________________________ Newbie mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] *** To unsubscribe , or change message options, see: http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/newbie
