First - environment: Hardware: P4 1.7G, MB: ABIT TH7II RAID, HPT370 raid array in use, Nvidia Vanta TNT2 - 32MB AGP Suse Linux 7.3 (kernel 2.4.10), XF86 4.1.0 I knew about problems configuring new Nvidia cards under XF86. I installed every patch from Suse, also current Nvidia drivers. I hardly configured XF86 server, but now is running, even with glx support (as I tesetd with gears). Strange is, when I kill X-server (CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE) or I quit XF86 usual way, system hangs. It' simply not responding, nor to keyboard, nor networked console, I can't even ping the box. It does't make kernel panic (caps+scrlock blinking), and the only help is hard restart. When XF86 is up, it's possible to switch to normal text console, and back, but terminating X server is deadly to system. Any suggestions ? Also - second question - not very related to XF86 - system in text mode (init 3) makes monitor enter sleep state, and I don't want this, but I really cannot find where to control this behavior. Apmd is not runnig, power management in bios is set to "disabled". Thanks in advance, Ivan Mojzis,Slovakia
