Hi, I just installed a stock Debian Potato system, with a 2.2.19pre17 kernel, and the
X Window System Core option. I then downloaded the full binary version for GLIBC 2.2,
and installed libc6 v2.5. Then I installed the binary version with Xinstall.sh, using
default options, except letting it replace config files (I also tried without doing
that.) When I try to run X, it says "no screens found." So, I ran xf86config, and made
a new config with what I confirmed was the new version 4 XF86Config app. However, when
I ran xinit, it said "caught signal 11. server aborting". I tried compiling from
source with make World >& world.log and then make install >& install.log .. the
installer doesn't create a working copy of X on a system without X, and it makes no
changes if I have X installed.

My system uses an AMD-Duron and PCI VooDoo 3 2000.

Thanks,
Deven Gallo

What should I do?
