I'm having trouble getting X to work on my new Gateway FDP1810 using the digital video port. X seems to work just fine with the analog port, but with the DVI port I get either (depends on configuration tweaks) a text screen full of dashes and underlines or a graphic screen full of blue and magenta flashing lines, but no errors to give me a clue as to what might be wrong. Everything else such as linux text mode and everything under WinXP seems fine with the digital port.

I've tried the NIVIDIA forum with no success, so I'm trying here in case it's a general X problem or something someone recognizes.  Any help is appreciated, this is what I have and have tried so far:

Monitor:  Gateway FPD1810
Video Card:  NVIDIA GeForce2 MX400
OS:  Red Hat 7.2
X:  whatever came with Red Hat 7.2 and NVIDIA_kernel-1.0-2802.rh72up.i686 & NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-2802.i386
XF86Config:  (attached) the sample file from NVIDIA with my values for the FontPath (wouldn't work with the provided value), Monitor (sync freqs), and Device Section (BusID, added Option "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP")
XFree86.0.log:  No errors, seems to be a subset of the stderr I redirected to stderr.txt file below
stderr.txt:  (attached) stderr I get when running "startx -- -verbose 5 -logverbose 5 >stdout.txt 2>stderr.txt
", indicates nvidia driver loaded, screen init complete etc.

Any ideas on what is wrong? What else to check or try?

Thanks,
Helen
