Hello, there. I've recently started trying to get anti-aliasing to work in my window manager(s) of choice. However, when I'm using a desktop environment that supports anti-aliasing natively (GNOME and KDE), programs that make heavy usage of anti-aliasing tend to make the box unresponsive after a few minutes (rebooting has to be done via Magic SysRq; I don't have a box to shell in from). In addition, using anti-aliased fonts with XTerm in any desktop environment does the same thing.
I've spent the better part of a day trying to fix this, and here's what I've tried so far: - RedHat 7.1 - XFree86 4.1.0 and 4.2.0, from the official source tarballs - nVidia driver versions 1.0-2314 and 1.0-2802 - KDE 2.1.1, Gnome 1.2.4 - TrueType provided by xfs and server extensions - with Xft hinting hack and without - with and without GdkXft to provide anti-aliasing for GTK programs - with stock FreeType libraries and the latest from freetype.org This problem would be easier to diagnose if it were logged to disk, but neither /var/log/messages nor the XFree log show any errors. Is this a known bug or am I just missing a configuration problem? -- Colin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> [I'm not subscribed to this list, so please CC me any replies.] _______________________________________________ Newbie mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] *** To unsubscribe , or change message options, see: http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/newbie
